Anti-Slip Footwear

Anti-slip footwear is designed to provide enhanced traction and reduce the risk of slips, trips, and falls in environments where floors may be wet, greasy, or uneven. These shoes feature specialized rubber soles, tread patterns, and slip-resistant materials that maintain grip even under challenging conditions. Many models are also water-resistant and include protective toe caps for added safety

Replacement & Care Guidelines

  1. Inspect daily for sole wear, cracks, or smooth tread areas.
  2. Clean soles regularly using a stiff brush and mild detergent to maintain traction.
  3. Replace footwear when:
    • Tread depth is visibly worn down.
    • The sole has become shiny, smooth, or hardened.
    • Water begins to seep through or internal padding collapses.
  4. Average replacement interval:
    • Light duty: every 12–18 months.
    • Heavy duty / daily use: every 6–9 months.

🧼 Tip: Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals on soles; it degrades rubber compounds and reduces slip resistance.

When to Use?

Anti-slip footwear must be worn whenever: Working on wet, polished, or contaminated floors (mopping, restroom, or kitchen cleaning). Operating floor machines, auto-scrubbers, or extractors. Performing construction cleanup or cleaning in entryways and lobbies. Engaging in outdoor or winter cleaning tasks with potential ice, snow, or rain exposure. Supervisors should enforce mandatory use during any shift where slip risk is identified in the job hazard assessment.

Anti-slip footwear is recommended for:

  • Commercial Cleaning Teams – during floor mopping, stripping, or machine scrubbing.
  • Post-Construction Crews – where debris and dust can reduce traction.
  • Kitchen and Food-Service Areas – where grease or water spills are common.
  • Restroom Maintenance Staff – to prevent accidents on wet tiles.
  • Vehicle Detailing or Outdoor Cleaning – for traction on wet concrete or asphalt.

⚠️ Always verify that footwear meets CSA or ASTM non-slip standards (e.g., β€œSATRA TM144” or β€œSRC” certification).
